Meet the Candidates Night Oct 16, 2025

October 16, 2025

As you may be aware, my opponent withdrew this morning, which leaves me re-elected by acclamation. I had a speech written – and rewritten, but as this is an important evening for the remaining candidates, and time is precious, I will instead post my speech on my website. It goes without saying that I am committed to continue working hard for our community and for you, as I always have. Finally, I would like to wish all of the candidates the best of luck and a good campaign.

Vous trouverez ci-dessous le discours que j'avais initialement préparé pour ce soir / Please find below the speech that I originally prepared for this evening:

Bonsoir. Good evening.

Times have changed since I first joined Council, and they continue to do so. Municipalities are not immune to what happens around us. Project costs have soared since the pandemic. Extreme weather systems mean that we have to rethink how we maintain our roads, trees, drainage systems, water management, and emergency preparedness. Combined with international uncertainty, it all adds a quiet but constant stress — on our town, and on us as individuals.

My time on Council – along with my involvement in numerous town advisory committees (town planning, environment, parks and rec, and demolition) – has given me practical experience in identifying issues, finding solutions, and seeing projects through. Still, there’s always more to learn, and more to do. You regularly share your ideas about what we can improve — from infrastructure and communication, to preserving our community’s unique character, and protecting our environment and biodiversity. These are all priorities I carry forward into the next Council mandate.

Merci beaucoup - Thank you.
